The PTIS English Language Academy (PELA) offers an exceptional transition program in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for students in Grade 5 to Grade 9, preparing them linguistically and academically for entrance into the mainstream of prestigious English-medium international schools.
The PELA program facilitates a staged transition to the academic mainstream by integrating the instruction of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills with content-rich curriculum. maximum class size of 10 to 12 students
The PELA Mission is to help ESOL students learn English in a caring academic environment. Students’ smooth transition into the mainstream of an English-medium academic program is supported by experienced and knowledgeable faculty.

The tailored program at PELA provides personalised teaching and individual attention, focusing on the needs, interests, and goals of each student.
Highly trained and well-qualified specialists work with beginner students to ensure that they receive the personal attention they need.
With up to five hours of intensive English instruction daily in the sheltered immersion environment of the PELA classroom, students will receive instruction in subjects aimed specifically at language development (Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Phonics, etc.) as well as in Science and Humanities.
In addition to this, students will attend Maths, Art/Music/Drama and Physical Education with their mainstream peers at PTIS.
Active participation in cultural activities and field trips organised by PTIS, enables PELA students to benefit from exciting opportunities for contextual learning.

Staff
Tiffany Crook
Tiffany has a BBA in Marketing and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary). She is currently studying her M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies - ESL at Bishop’s University in Canada.
Previously Tiffany taught ESL in Korea and Japan and, more recently, at an international boarding school in Canada. For the past five years she held the position of Associate Director of Admissions - Marketing for that school.
She enjoys running, swimming, cycling, skiing, hiking and just being outdoors. She has completed three marathons, including Boston.
In 2003 Tiffany and her husband, Sean, climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Tiffany’s indoor pursuits include reading, cooking, and compiling family photo albums.
Tiffany and her husband, Sean, have two children, Siarra and Kai, who also attend PTIS.
